We love the Pacific Ocean 💜🙏 . We have made it to Puerto Vallarta! The first thing we realized when we got here is that we have really missed the Pacific. We love being near water. And we really love watching the sunset on the Pacific🥰❤️ . . . . . #alloptionsconsidered #itsjustusalix2

Guanajuato is a great city to visit 🥳 . The fact that it’s a college town gives it a very fun vibe 🥰 . And of course it’s dripping with history from Spanish colonial times and the revolution 😮 . Very pedestrian friendly and walkable 🚶‍♀️ . We would definitely return 👍 . . . . . #alloptionsconsidered #itsjustusalix2

Union Garden 🌳 . One of our favorite spots in Guanajuato to hangout and do some people watching 😊 . The trees in this little garden have such a thick canopy that you can spot this green space in the urban sea very easily from above 🤩 . . . . . #alloptionsconsidered #itsjustusalix2

Mummy Museum 😱 . Feel free to NOT scroll through these photos if you want to avoid seeing mummified human remains 🚫 . Also, you can thank Alison for making me delete 5 gruesome photos from this post 🤣 . Some friends from Boquete told us we absolutely had to go to Guanajuato’s Muséo de las Momias. Cuz they loved it. So we did 😳 . We both thought it could be fascinating. Maybe 🤷‍♀️ . Probably not any scarier than the catacombs in Paris right? ☠️ . Actually the mummy museum really freaked us both out 😱 . Totally scary and much creepier than the crypts in Paris 🤭 . We walked through the dark creepy halls with one other couple. All acting like something might jump out sand scare us to death at any moment. At one point Alison said - please do not scream while we are in here! And thankfully, I didn’t 😬 . There’s so much street art in the part of Guanajuato we stayed in. We saw these murals everyday as we walked up and down the stone paths and stairways between the center of town and our little apartment in Quebradita 🖼🖍 . . . . . #alloptionsconsidered #itsjustusalix2

We can see a lot of reminders of this city’s long history when we’re walking around in the old town area 😲 . There are so many old buildings, bridges, and walls that grab our attention 🏗 . And some of the biggest trees, cactuses, and agave plants we’ve seen anywhere in Mexico are here growing strong 🌳🌵 . . . . . #alloptionsconsidered #itsjustusalix2

We got some really good news today so we are having fun sharing it everywhere with everyone 🎉 . One of our big passion projects after retirement is keeping a certain author’s books available in multiple formats ❤️ . And today we got news we’ve been waiting for! There's a new audiobook out there, because Alison made it happen 😲🙌 . The book "Desert of the Heart" was written by Alison's aunt, Jane Rule, in 1964. It was a landmark in lesbian fiction at that time, and still is 📚 . The book was made into a groundbreaking lesbian film called "Desert Hearts" in 1985 🎥 . And now in 2020, it's finally an audiobook 🗣 . This is something we have been talking about for 15 years, and it became an obsession after Alison's aunt died more than 10 years ago. So today is quite a milestone 🙏 . Thankfully, Alison was able to dedicate a lot of time and energy to getting this done over the last year 🥰 . The publisher sent a link so we could download the first copy for free today. But to heck with that! We wanted to be the first people to buy this audiobook 🥳 . We are trying to imagine what Aunt Jinx would say about her first audiobook. And we are celebrating this accomplishment ❤️🎉

We just posted our 2019 Portfolio Report 🤑 . Personally, we had a great year of travel in 2019. And even with surprise medical costs, our 2019 spending proved that our budget was a good fit. We also learned how to be very happy and grounded being Home Free. But, how did our portfolio do last year 📈❓ . The first thing to note, which was totally new and different for us, is that we lived 100% off cash in 2019. We did not receive any income or sell any equities in 2019 to cover our living expenses 💵 . The second thing to note, is that 2019 was the first year our portfolio had all of the necessary ingredients to sit and bake in its current form. Because we consolidated the balance of our condo proceeds into our brokerage account in January of 2019, this was a very important growth year for our portfolio during our first year of retirement 🙏 . We went up to see the El Pípila monument 💪 . El Pípila was an indigenous man born in San Miguel, who worked here in one of Guanajuato’s silver mines ⚒ . He became famous for a powerful show of strength for Mexican independence here in 1810 💪🇲🇽 . The views up there from the monument are fabulous. The little bar up there is also fabulous 🤩 . We could see the rooftop of our apartment on the other side of the valley. We could also see the old Alhóndiga granary building where El Pípila’s revolutionary act took place 😲 . So glad there’s a funicular train to help with the steep climb up the hill 🛤😆 . . . . . #alloptionsconsidered #itsjustusalix2
